Best Overall
The diet that comes in first place for best overall (and best for healthy eating) was the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet, which has been shown to help improve blood pressure and cut cholesterol. In second place for this category was the TLC (Therapeutic Lifestyles Changes) diet.
Best Weight Loss
Weight Watchers is still ranked the top weight loss diet, which is heralded for delivering fast results. Three diets tied for second place: The Biggest Loser diet, which emphasizes fruits, vegetables and lean proteins; Jenny Craig, which focuses on smaller portion sizes and eliminating fats; and The Raw Food Diet, which removes all processed and cooked foods.
Best Diabetes Diet
The best diabetes diet was a tie between the Biggest Loser diet and DASH. And for diabetics interested in cutting out meat, the best plant-based diet was awarded to the Mediterranean diet, which promotes fresh fruits, whole grains, legumes and olive oil to promote weight loss, heart health and blood sugar balance.
Looking for a diet you can stick with? The diet voted "Easiest to Follow" was Weight Watchers.
